What are the benefits?
Laser hair reduction works by destroying the base of the hair follicle which is the source of new hair growth. A short burst of light energy is delivered onto the skin surface by the laser or IPL. The melanin (colour pigment) in the hair absorbs the light and converts this energy into heat. If the hair is in its growth stage, the heat will travel down the hair follicle to the root and destroy the germination centre preventing regrowth.
What is the downtime?
This treatment does not require any downtime. You may return to normal activities straight after your treatment.
Are there any possible side effects?
Treated area may appear slightly red, raised and feel warm for a few hours. Slight swelling may occur on occasion, bruising is rare but can happen (associated with vascular treatments). Treatment on vascular areas or pigmentation may darken immediately after treatment, this is part of the healing process and will improve over a few days.
How many treatments do I need for best results?
Treatment time varies depending on the area being treated – this will be explained during your consultation. Multiple treatments are required to ensure all hairs are treated effectively.
